Jill Dagilis was appointed as the new Executive Director of the Worcester Community Action Council in September, 2006. She comes to this exciting new position having served in Worcester’s municipal system with a focus on community development for over 25 years, most recently as the Commissioner of Health and Human Services. During her tenure with the City, she served in various roles to include Commissioner of Code Enforcement, Staff Assistant for Operations to the City Manager, and Grants Acquisition Coordinator.
Her most significant achievement is in her 10-year assignment as Contracting Officer and lead staff person to coordinate the new $90 million, state-of-the art Worcester Technical High School. A challenging project from beginning to end, Dagilis led a team of contractors, architects, and municipal officials to a successful culmination; the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget and opened for its first class this Fall!
Dagilis is known for building teams to find solutions to community challenges. Her track record includes many volunteer contributions from Montachusett Girl Scout Council, Worcester Community Action Council, to the Worcester State College Foundation Board, and as an active member of Hadwen Park Church. She is known to often say she is blessed because she loves what she does!
She and her husband Paul have two adult children Michael and Jesse Marie who inspire her everyday. Jill is grounded in her deep faith and has a positive attitude and sense of humor. With a love of decorating, floral arranging, music and dancing, Jill has a creative side that is ever-thirsty.
She has her Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Studies from Worcester State College and her Master in Public Administration degree from Clark University.
A great fan of Worcester, she is dedicated to helping to make Central Massachusetts the great place that it is through her professional and volunteer commitments. She credits her accomplishments and her love of her work to the team she is blessed to work with.
